Yes, it is definitely a religiously flavoured idea. Within the manifold of eastern religions, the basic idea would often be expressed by saying: "The path is the goal" ( http://www.google.dk/search?hl=da&q=The+path+is+the+goal&meta=&aq=f&oq= )
But "non-gentiles" might also refer to scripture such as John 14:6 :
Jesus said unto him, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me."
